Acid Stain Gone Wrong Part 2
by: Eric croekr

I had a concrete patio poured a couple weeks ago. The contractor doing the job was to stain the concrete for me. The color was suppose to be a tan or light brown. The only color he had close to tan or light brown was caramel.
Anyway, the patio was poured...6 days later, the contractor commenced to acid stain the patio. I wasn't home at the time. My wife called me and was highly upset. She was crying. She told me.."the patio is orange!!!" "Yellow and orange...I can't have that..."
When I arrived at home, the contractor was still there. I asked him what went wrong. His reply was.."nothing". He told me to get a hose and get the patio wet..that would be what it looks like after we put the sealer on it.
I went and got the hose..sprayed the entire patio...he was right about one thing..the color would change..but it wasn't tan or light brown..it was a dark orange or rust color. The contractor still saw nothing wrong. I went and got his color scheme chart, laid it down on the patio..and asked him..again..Is that the same color or even similar in color? His silence answered my quesiton.
Now I'm stuck with an yellowish orange patio. We've tried to see if we can stain over what has been done..but I've been told that the active lime has been all cured by now. If anyone has any suggestions..I am all ears. If you want to email me any ideas..please place "Retaining Wall" in the subject line.
