acid stain patio

This patio was painted white over a rough broom finish which made it nearly impossible to strip the paint with a chemical stripper. So the surface was ground down smooth will a 7 inch angle grinder and diamond blade. After grinding, much of the aggregate in the concrete was exposed.

It was stained with a green and brown acid stain. The two shades of brown are from the same color stain. The light brown was one application of very diluted stain and the dark brown was two applications of non diluted.

The customer searched the web for a design and chose this one because it would incorporate the existing control joints. The pattern was scored with an angle grinder and 4 inch diamond blade. The lines aren't very visible but made it easy to keep the colors separated. The combination of colors and the exposed aggregate created a beautiful finish after sealing.
