Angle Grinder Blades

There are two types of angle grinder blades for scoring concrete with a 4 1/2 inch angle grinders; abrasive or grinding blades and diamond blades.

With abrasive blades, there are wider 1/4 inch blades which are good for scoring wide, very visible lines such as grout lines. There are also the thinner 1/8 blades obviously for scoring thin lines that are still easily visible.

With diamond blades, there are general purpose unsegmented blades and the segmented blades. These are ideal for scoring just to create a barrier between stain colors. Because concrete stains are thin and runny, a physical barrier is almost necessary to keep colors separated. I recommend using the unsegmented blades for scoring because the segmented blades have a tendency to bounce off the concrete more making it difficult to hold the grinder steady.
