What is the best concrete stain?

The best concrete stain will be found at the contractor supply stores. Contractors normally want to use the quality products to satisfy their customers, therefore, the supply stores will carry the best. There is no single best concrete stain brand but there are many that perform well. As far as acid stains go, these can only be purchased at contractor supply stores anyways except for a few online dealers.

The acrylic stains is where it gets tricky. Most acrylic stains sold at home improvement and paint stores are not true concrete stains. They are more like colored concrete sealers because they are solvent based and stay on the surface and form a film just like paint and sealers do. A true acrylic concrete stain is water based and is very thin like milk. This allows the pigments to seep down into the pores for permanent coloring that won't peel away. So far I've yet to find a true acrylic concrete stain at a home improvement store. Whether its acid or acrylic, the best concrete stain is sold at contractor supply stores.
