Colored concrete sealer for driveway

by Judy
(Buffalo,NY)

Q. If I am putting in a concrete drive do I have the contractor use a color sealer immediately after it is poured? One company quote said that the drive should be sealed the same day as the pour so as to help it cure properly.

A. The concrete should be sealed immediately upon completion for optimum curing. It should be sprayed on because the concrete won't be ready to walk on yet. If the sealer is colored, then have plenty extra so you can roll on another coat the following day to even out the color.

You might consider using integral color in the concrete mix instead of using colored sealer. It will be a bit more expensive but the color doesn't wear away as it will with colored sealer.
