Contrary to the popular belief that acid staining is paint or some sort of coloring agent, the fact is that acid staining is actually a coloring procedure. This procedure involves the chemical reaction between a mixture of water, inorganic salts and acid with concrete. Hydrochloric Acid is the main constituent of acid stains.
A few days back, my friend suggested to me that I get acid staining done at my place. My house is a little old- it was built some 20 years ago by my late grandfather. So the concrete in my house is old. That is why I decided to go ahead with acid staining. I asked a contractor to send some laborers to my place who are familiar with acid staining. The the concrete covered around 350 square feet of area in my house, so I needed almost one gallon of acid stain. First, the concrete slabs were cleaned. After drying, they were acid stained. I also applied sealer on the concrete after acid staining.
