Concrete Sealer After Acid Staining

It's important to put a coat of concrete sealer on the surface after acid staining. Not only does it add protection and durability, it will also enhance the colors and overall appearance. But be sure the concrete is completely dry before applying.

Wait at least 24 hours or overnight for the surface to dry after neutralization. Then rub your finger on it to make sure no residues remain because they can inhibit sealer adhesion. Apply a coat of clear sealer using a pump sprayer or roller. I recommend rolling it on because you don't have to worry about puddling or overspray. On exterior concrete with smooth texture, you can mix a fine sand in the sealer for a nonslip surface. I highly recommend this if you're staining porches or patios with concrete steps or you have children who will inevidably run across the concrete and slip and fall.

For interior floors, apply a couple coats of wax on top of the sealer after its dry. This will prevent the need for future coats of sealer.

Important:

Concrete sealer must be mixed well because the solids settle to the bottom as it sits on the shelf. Mixing is best done with an electric mixer.
