concrete sealers

Q. When is the best time to apply the sealer - when the concrete is wet or dry?
What kind of sealer is best for a driveway to get that glazed look?

A. When pouring new concrete, the best time to seal it is immediately after finishing. The main objective of sealer is too slow down the hydration(drying) of the surface. If the surface dries much quicker than the rest of the concrete, then there will be a weak bond between the two. A weak bond means a greater risk of scaling and spalling down the road.

The best kind of sealer for exterior concrete is solvent based acrylic sealer. It's the strongest type of sealer that is "breathable". It prevents water from penetrating but allows water vapor to escape.
