concrete slab relevel

by Claude
(Ballston Spa,NY)

Q. Can a 100 sf concrete slab be releveled using a surface
vibrator? Prep work would include diging a 2 foot trench
on two sides to allow soil to drift.

A. This is a very unorthodox method of trying to level concrete and probably isn't going to work. Concrete jacking is usually the preferred method or perhaps just replacing the slab.

Trying to vibrate the slab may make the problem even worse, it might not do anything at all, or it may crack the concrete. I've never seen or heard of anyone attempting this because it's a long shot. For a slab that small, just replacing it is the easiest method.
