Epoxy Concrete Floor Paint - The Easy, Inexpensive Way to Get a Great Look

After finding our dream home and deciding, based on no prior knowledge that we could and would "fix'er up", we found ourselves quickly in over our heads. But, the downstairs basement floor was concrete and not finished, at all! We'd considered several alternatives, but for the basement which would eventually be a play room for the guys, the guys of all ages, we decided on epoxy floor paint, the water based epoxy floor paint. The others were quite strong in oder, had more health risks, and seemed to really be better if used by someone with even a little bit of experience. We chose a charcoal color and the shine was unbelievable. We never imagined it would actually look "good". We just hoped it would look "OK", but for a game room, arts and crafts room, and any messy project anyone would ever undertake....this room, this floor could handle it all and still look great! The shine is so thick. That's what is most amazing. And, the maintenance is minimal to keep the shine, very minimal. It looks like we use a buffer on it all the time or something, but all I use is a damp mop with water...sometimes a little soap, but mostly just water. Area throw rugs look great on floors painted with epoxy paints because the shine is so brilliant. Great for reflecting light in a basement game room, too. Also, I was told that in the future, should I decide to go with wall to wall carpet or wood that it could be laid right on top of it without having to strip the epoxy floor paint off first! Epoxy floor paint is the win/win way to go...especially for that first fixer upper like was our case.
