An exposed aggregate driveway will add character and curb appeal while functioning with the same performance as regular concrete. Exposed aggregate concrete has more than enough strength to handle normal residential traffic.
Most exposed aggregate driveways are done monolithic style, meaning the aggregates(usually pea gravel) are already in the mix. This method is much more economical versus seeding because it requires less labor and pea gravel is cheap. This is important for most of us since driveways are relatively large slabs.
You can do an exposed aggregate finish on the entire driveway, or use it to make borders, bands, and accent designs.

Exposed aggregate concrete looks great next to regular broom finish concrete. Incorporating it into the driveway allows you to customize and create your own unique appearance. Keep in mind, with an exposed aggregate driveway, it's important to maintain the sealcoat, especially in climates where road salt is used.
