Fibermesh vs. wiremesh

Q. Is fibermesh as good as wiremesh? Should you use both?

A. It depends on who you ask. Some contractors say wire is better while other say fiber is better. In my opinion, when it comes to holding a slab of concrete together, wire mesh is best if it's installed properly. But that's the catch. Many times it left laying at the bottom making it almost useless. Although I don't believe fibermesh is as strong as wire, it is always evenly dispersed throughout the concrete. I do, however, believe that fiber will maintain a stronger surface as wire has absolutely no effect on the surface.

A combination of both will certainly give better reinforcement than one or the other.
