Fill concrete seams on basketball court

by Brian
(Vancouver wa)

Q. I have a basketball court that has 10x10 concrete sections. The seams are so deep and wide that the ball won't bounce regularly. Can I fill these seams just like a repair? Or is there a better way to deal with the problem?

A. Yes, you can fill them with vinyl concrete patch or you can use rough grade polymer topping. The polymer material will cost significantly more, but is also stronger and will last much longer. It will also dry much whiter than regular patch, but you can get some gray stain to blend it a little better. Because the seams are control, you will get hairline cracks in the repairs sooner or later. But at least you will be able to dribble the ball normally.
