Floor Paint for Bar Traction!

by Mange
(Thibodaux, LA, USA)

I own a basement bar where costumers have to descend a thirteen-step concrete staircase in order to enter. The concrete was worn smooth after years of use and the steps became slippery when it rained, so I decided to paint them with epoxy concrete paint to spruce them up a bit and to make them safer for my customers. I ended up adding a special sand from the hardware store to the paint so it would dry with a texture to lend more traction to anyone going down the stairs. It worked great, it looks great, and it's very easy as long as you follow all the prep directions closely. And remember- if you add texture to the paint, just make sure it's VERY well-mixed to ensure that the particles will be spread out evenly. Clumping can occur very easily if you don't continue mixing the paint during use.
