Q. We recently stained concrete floors in new construction. When we applied first coat of sealer, we noticed some spots that appear "milky". I was told the concrete may have been too cold to apply sealer. How can I repair the spots? I was told to try Xylene to strip and reapply?? What temp does concrete have to be to apply sealer?
A. If it is a solvent based sealer, then xylene will work to remove it. Usually solvent sealers whiten when moisture is present during application or shortly after.
The ambient temperature of the concrete and the air temperature should be at least 50 degrees when sealer is applied.
