Mold and Oil Stain removal

by Paula
(Kentucky )

I have had success of varying degrees getting stains off of concrete. Mold is the easiest removal. Mold stains will come off with any bathroom cleaner for mold, or soap scum. As for grease, transmission fluid and other oily type fluids from an automobile I have used many different things to clean these. In the past, I have been able to remove greasy substances with plain old dishwashing liquid a few times. For stains that are more set in, I have actually used Oxy Clean. If cleaning with the dishwashing liquid didn't work, I will cover the stain with Oxy Clean powder while it is still wet from the previous cleaning method. I will let it sit for usually about 20 minutes. When you go back and look at the stain, usually the Oxy Clean powder has discolored to whatever color the stain is, where it has soaked the substance up. If the stain isn't very bad, I will just spray the cleaner off with the water hose. For more serious staining, I will scrub the powder with a tire brush before spraying with water. Usually this takes care of all staining. Occassionally I have had a light stain left following this and have used "Mean Green" original formula to complete the removal. I pick up this cleaner at the Dollar General Store.
