Second Application of Concrete Overlay

The second application of concrete overlay is the "slop down, knock down process". This gives it some texture for a more decorative look.

Mix the material with water using about 15% less water than the previous application.

Wet the surface again prior to application.

Using a plastic cup, dip into the bucket of overlay material and slop it down as shown

Then knock it down and smooth it out with a steel trowel. This technique leaves "holes" in the second coat. Make trowel strokes in different directions to prevent leaving any visible patterns.

Once the second coat is dry enough to walk on, pull up the tape to reveal the pattern. Clean up the debris left behind.
