Q. Is there a clear or semi-clear sealer that will give a brushed concrete pool deck a non-slip finish. I would like to stay away from knock-down, etc, but need something to be slip resistant.
A. I recommend using the same sealer that should be used for almost any exterior concrete surface, solvent based acrylic sealer. With this sealer you can include your own slip resistant additive. As you roll on the sealer, simply broadcast silica sand. The easiest way to do this is to roll out a small area, put some sand in the palm of your hand, and blow it onto the wet sealer. When you're finished, let sealer dry completely. Then roll on another thin coat of the same sealer to "lock" in the sand. Repeat the process periodically (once a year or so) as needed. This will provide some good traction to help maintain safety of the pool deck.
