Q. I'm a do-it-yourselfer trying to sawcut my floor to look like tile or stone. I want 1/16 in. depth scoring lines.
I'm using a diamond blade in a skill saw. This works well for the longer straight lines I'm doing, but doesn't work for lines intersecting at a "T" or at a 90 degree angle. The round blade makes it impossible to cut intersecting lines without cutting past the intersection.
I've using a Dremel or Roto-Zip to finish off the last inch or so of the cut, but I haven't found a bit that works very well. The diamond bits I've tried don't last for more than about 30 seconds. Can you recomend a small bit (approx, 1/8 in diameter) that will do a side-cut and will last long enough to make it economical?
A. I don't know of any Dremel accessories that will give you that diameter. A small angle grinder with a masonry cutting blade works best for this. Although it won't cut a perfect intersection, it does well enough on a floor that you will never notice it. The blades are cheap ($2) and just one would surely complete your project.
